Trimming Beliefs

Beliefs are ideas that the self-aware part of our mind accepts as true. But due to the unknowable nature of life, we cannot prove anything, making “belief” an inherently fallible concept.

This doesn’t mean we need to dismiss the concept of believing, it just means that beliefs are for entertainment purposes only. When a particular belief causes distress, it’s time to challenge and dismantle it.

As long as we don’t cling to harmful beliefs, pruning when necessary, belief is a useful concept for engaging with life and providing enjoyment.
